RNFC had envisioned a self-sustaining orphanage in 2003. This is the second in series in initiation with support from the club. The first home is being run in Kathmandu.
Once the orphanage is established and everything else is set up, the home can run of its own without any outside funding. Initial funding is being made available by the RNFC by getting national and international donors into it. We have thought of many initiatives that can aid to the proper functioning of the orphanage. It is run with contributions from the local people.
Once the home is set up, we have thought of setting up infrastructures for fish farming, animal husbandry, chicken farming, beekeeping, raising of buffalo, goats, pigs and rabbits, among other things. The Club shall provide the home with basic things required for carrying out these activities. The incomes coming in from these activities are used for running of the orphanage. The question may arise who will do works for running all these activities. There will be some workers hired for this and children above nine years of age (staying in the home) will be assisting the workers when they have time. These children will have to contribute certain number of leisure hours, remaining after school hours, study hours and recreation. It’s all participatory and no one is forced to work. An atmosphere shall be created where they find fun in working for a few hours.
Setting an example of local initiative, a local named Moti Bahadur don ated land for building a house for the children. Mirjam Schallberger the Swiss Nationality , and RNFC provided support to buy a buffalo and build the house. The club has envisaed of providing training on yoga and income-generating activities for non-school-going children, youths. The yoga may help them recover from the sour experience the children had undergone in the past, while the income-generating training will support their life. The children will be encouraged to do friendship at home and abroad and they will be taught to live in harmony and peace. The willing children will be provided with education till the 12th Grade.A natural home is never comparable to any other environment for a child. Hence, if family or other relatives of the children are traced, they will be rehabilitated as far as practicable.
